[WATCH] A Chinese Mall Introduces ‘Husband Storage’ Pods For Shopping Wives
Have you ever saw storage pods for people to rest? Many of us say ‘NO’, isn’t it?
A Chinese mall has introduced “Husband Storage” facilities for wives to leave their spouse while they shop. They are called ‘Husband Storage’ Pods. Research showed that men get bored after just 26 minutes of shopping, and one Chinese shopping mall has come up with a clever way to keep them happy while going out for shopping with their wives.
The glass booths have been erected in Shanghai’s sprawling Global Harbor mall and each features a computer and a games console to entertain bored husbands. The idea is that frustrated husbands can sit and play retro 1990s games for free and give their wives the space they need to shop.
Bizarre footage has emerged from China of so-called “husband storage” pods which have been installed at a shopping center for spouses who don’t want to be dragged around the shops by their wives. The video, filmed in Shanghai on July 12, shows a comfy chair, a monitor, a computer and a gamepad being installed in each private booth.
The staff said users may need to use their mobile phones to scan a QR code and pay a small sum of money for the service in the further.

The pods have been the source of much humor on Chinese social media, and have sparked debate about whether they could be rolled out even wider.
A few men that tried out the pods told that they thought they were a novel idea. Mr. Yang said he thinks the pods are “Really great. I’ve just played Tekken 3 and felt like I was back at school!” Another man, Mr. Wu, agreed but said that that he thought there were areas for improvement. “There’s no ventilation or air conditioning, I sat playing for five minutes and was drenched in sweat.”
One user approves the decision, saying that the pods “give these men an incentive to go shopping and to pick up the bill” for their wives shopping. But others disagree. “If my husband just wants to go out and play games, what’s the point of bringing him out?”
