Poverty is one of the prime reasons for deaths in India, and it’s time that we wake up to this harsh reality. Seeing helpless people lying on the road has almost become a daily norm for most of us. Although we feel empathy towards them, there is little that can be done to save them.

Proving just that a Vizianagaram -resident Charan Prasad took in his stride to help an old lady who had been starving for almost two months.

In a Facebook post that has gone viral, the young guy from Vizianagaram says he got a call from a stranger, who gave him the details about the lady staying at a roadside. Prasad apparently rushed to help and feed her immediately. Not just that, he took her to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The elderly woman, who is visibly touched by the gesture, is seen with moist eyes in the photographs he shared.

It was a random call, Charan could have ignored it. But, he and his team took it seriously and went on to help the woman who was in dire need of food and attention. They searched for her and talked to her.

They took the woman out of that dirty place and then gave her some good clothes to wear…
