HDFC Launches Its ‘OnChat’ Which Allows You To Pay Through Facebook’s Messenger
From withdrawal lines at banks to ATM machines to electronic payments through mobile and finally, here we are, there’s no turning back. HDFC bank astonishingly launched the mobile app ‘OnChat’ through which you can now process your payments simply passing messages by Facebook messenger.
The India’s Supremo HDFC bank has tied-up with Niki.ai to introduce a chatbot called OnChat on Facebook’s Messenger platform, through this feature, the user can recharge his mobile, pay utility bills, book cabs from Ola or Uber etc., through simple messages.
The chatbot is also available for non-HDFC account holders which make it unique, apart from being in Facebook’s messenger.
However, few apps in India are already providing these facilities like FreeCharge, which had a clever strategy of enabling payments on WhatsApp. Mypoolin, a bill splitting app also has a chatbot where users need to enter a person’s bank account number to transfer money.
The usage and the process are pretty simple. One simply has to need to find ‘HDFC Bank OnChat’ on Messenger and text a ‘Hi’. The platform then verifies the user’s phone number and prompts them to carry out transactions. Users can ask the bot for suggestions like ‘recommended data plans’ etc., or issue orders like ‘cancel transaction’, to get relevant responses.
‘OnChat’ saves users data, so that the bill details are automatically saved for future payments. And one can simply proceed to pay through Paytm, Freecharge or PayuMoney, using which users can pay via debit or credit cards.
