PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Dharti Maa’ Remark, Twitterati Came Up With Hilarious Reactions

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday addressed the Lok Sabha and participated in the discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s joint address to Parliament during the Budget session.

Justifying the demonetisation of higher value currency notes, the PM also took jibes at Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav’s SCAM with a timely ‘earthquake’ remark. During the speech, PM Modi did not hesitate in launching a scathing attack on opposition leaders in the parliament.

He said “Bhukamp aa hi gaya, koi to kaaran hoga, dharti maa rooth gayi hongi (the earthquake occurred because mother earth mustn’t be happy about something)”.

Meanwhile, people were left in splits after Modi’s ‘dharti maa’ comment and took to town coming up with their own ‘dharti maa tweets’. From explaining high tide and low tide, floods and even laws of gravity — Twitter users gave a Modi spin to everything.

Some of the Twitter reactions for ‘dharti maa’ are here.

His speech stressed the power of India’s democracy or Jan Shakti; he said it accounts for how “a tea-seller’s son can rise to become Prime Minister.”
