Hyderabad: Woman Kills Her Husband Over A Suspected Phone Call, Then Commits Suicide

According to the sources, the couple got married a year ago and it was the third marriage for both.  They gave birth to a baby boy who is three-months-old, and the wife burnt her drunken husband alive after which she committed suicide by burning her alive as well. The incident took place after the couple argued a call, which led to a big quarrel and she took such a drastic step to kill her husband and kill herself leaving a three-month-old baby boy behind.

They belong to Angadi Chittampaly village in Pudur Mandal of Vikarabad district.

Meanwhile, Barlapalli Jangaiah, 45, was a construction worker and that after his two previous wives passed away due to ill health, he married Barlapalli Sumitra a year ago from a nearby village. Sumitra also married twice before but was separated from both her husbands. After marrying Jangaiah, she and her 17-year-old daughter from her second marriage were staying with Jangaiah. She gave birth to a boy three months ago.

Right next to completing his work, on Saturday, Jangaiah came home drunk and slept. While sleeping he received a call from an unknown woman which he answered by going aside. His wife Savitri questioned him about the call, but he diverted the topic which made Savitri suspect her husband.

After an hour long quarrel, the angry husband slept and Savitri poured kerosene on him and set him aflame. Jangaiah ran out shouting loudly and fell down outside their house.  Thinking that he had died, Savitri also ran inside, locked herself in, and burnt herself.

The incident came to limelight after Jangayyiah’s younger brother Raju admitted them to the hospital.  Savitri died while she was on her way to hospital while Jangaiah died while receiving treatment. After post-mortem, the bodies were handed over to the family and a case was registered. Police said the couple suffered 90 per cent burns.
