DMK president M Karunanidhi’s wife Rajathi Ammal met Jayalalithaa’s friend Sasikalaa Natarajan while on her visit Chennai’s Apollo Hospital to enquire on health conditions of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa who under treatment since September 22.

Rajathi Ammal’s daughter and Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi is also likely to visit the hospital, a party leader has said.

At the hospital, she was received by Ms. Sasikala, who told her that Ms. Jayalalithaa was responding well to the treatment,” a source close to Ms. Rajathi Ammal said.

The visit of Rajathi Ammal came close on the heels of DMK leader M K Stalin and senior leaders S Duraimurugan and K Ponmudi visiting the ailing AIADMK supremo last Saturday. Among those visited her include state acting governor C Vidyasagar Rao, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, BJP chief Amit Shah, Kerala Governor P Sathasivam, Kerala Chief Minister P Vijayan, state cabinet ministers, party leaders and many others.

Many of her supporters have also gathered outside the hospital since she was admitted and praying for her quick recovery.

After Jayalalithaa was admitted in the hospital, the charge of her portfolios have been given to O Paneerselvam, while she herself continues to remain as the chief minister.

In the meantime, Jayalalithaa is said to have approved garlanding of MG Ramachandran’s (MGR) statue on October 17. It was the day, he founded the party over four decades ago, a statement has said. In a statement AIADMK has said that on October 17 the party would complete 44 years .
