‘Nirbhaya’s Gangrape Was Pre-Planned By Her Boyfriend For Political Mileage,’ Claims Defence Lawyer
Is there anything he won’t try? Now the lawyer representing two of the death row convicts in the 2012 Nirbhaya gang-rape case in Delhi, claims the December 16 atrocity was PLANNED by ‘a politician and the victim’s male friend.’
It was only last week that the defence lawyer ML Sharma made an outrageous offer to pay a Rs 10 lakh reward to anyone who can prove that the Delhi gang-rape victim was violated with an iron rod. As if this wasn’t enough, Sharma had more to say on Tuesday. He has come up with a new bizarre theory to back his case.

According to Sharma the entire December 16, 2012 incident was planned and orchestrated by a politician, with co-operation from the victim’s male companion, “to score political mileage”.
“After paying Rs 10,000 to the brother of Ram Singh (one of the accused who committed suicide in Tihar jail during the trial), the politician and male companion of the victim assured him of protection from any consequences, but they ditched him,” Sharma said.
“Being frustrated, Ram Singh decided to reveal everything to the trial court and the media. But, after this information reached those persons (politician and male companion), they got him killed and had termed as a suicide,” Sharma added. “His brother Mukesh too was under fear of ending up like Ram Singh as he was regularly being tortured, and so he too confessed to the police’s version in court.”
Sharma, who represents Mukesh and Pawan, further said that Mukesh, is now disclosing facts about the case for he knows he will be hanged. “Mukesh now knows that he is sure to be hanged. So he wants to disclose all facts. Till now he did not dare to do so due to fear of being killed.”

However, a bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra rightfully intervened and told Sharma that he “should argue only on the basis of whatever evidence already placed before the lower courts and no new evidence can be permitted.”
The special bench warned Sharma, saying that just because he is being given sufficient time to speak, it does not imply he can say whatever he wants and at time become indifferent.
About the iron rod being inserted and the intestines being pulled out, Sharma said that the police’s claim was medically impossible. “The post-mortem report prepared by the Singapore hospital (where the victim received treatment) says the uterus and ovaries were intact. Going by the human anatomy, if a rod is inserted through the vagina, it cannot reach the intestines without breaking the uterus.”
