KCR Asks Governor To Dissolve Telangana Assembly For An Early Poll, Sets More Than 100 Candidates On The Track

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to requested the Governor for the state to dissolve the assembly only after much suspense for many days. The step paves the way for early elections in the state. Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan has accepted the Chief Minister’s recommendation. The move will affect the elections slated earlier to be held in the middle of the year and now it may be held at the end of this year. Until the elections are over, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao will stay in place as the caretaker Chief Minister.

There were many times hints given by Mr. Rao regarding such a move, but no announcement was made in this regard. On Sunday, expectations rose to a fever pitch, when the party held a huge rally in the district of Ranga Reddy. But during the meet, Chief Minister did not announce any sort of that thing and as a result disappointed everyone present there, and he simply said that he has been empowered to take a decision in this regard.

And now, the Chief Minister who is popularly called as KCR will launch the elections campaign for his party starting with a public meeting at Husnabad in Siddipet district on Friday. The meeting is christened as “Prajala Aasirwada Sabha”, and this will become the first part of about 100 public meetings in the pipeline extending up to next 50 days.

The move by Mr. Rao for early elections is seen as an attempt to keep his voter base strong and together. In case, if the assembly would have completed the full term, the assembly elections would have clashed with the general elections and local issues would have to be brushed aside. According to BJP sources, the Telangana CM does not want to hold elections in the middle of Lok Sabha election that would be solely regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The BJP leader denied any possibility of any kind of tie-up with KCR and said that it would become a triangular competition and the BJP will have to contest all 117 seats. The leader further went on to give details that the TRS was not ideologically opposed to the BJP and there is a possibility of an alliance with “any party which gets dominance in the Centre” after the elections.

Lately, there has been a general perception of Mr. Rao having a secret understanding with the BJP party at the center. The perception is based on a series of meetings held between the Chief Minister and Prime Minister Narendra Modi followed by a vote for the government in the recently held Rajya Sabha deputy chairman elections. The perception was in fact amplified by the Congress party, which is hoping to gain mileage and capture power in the state.
