WhatsApp testing new labels to tackle fake messages

Facebook-owned messaging platform Whatsapp has gone pretty much active nowadays after getting a notice from the government. Recently the government has sent a notice to social media platform in order to stop the misuse of its platform. So in response to the government notice, instant messaging platform Whatsapp has got pretty much active and is taking many steps to handle the issue of fake messages on its platform that include testing a new label that would be highlighted when a message has been forwarded versus composed by the sender.
Although the company is taking the number of steps to tackle this major problem such as spreading mob Violence, spreading misinformation and rumors like child lifting on this platform has been announced “unrestricted monetary awards” with a purpose to research on the spread of misinformation on this social media platform.

As The company said in its response to Ministry of Electronics and IT that “Like the Government of India, we’re horrified by these terrible acts of violence and wanted to respond quickly to the very important issues you have raised. We believe this is a challenge that requires government, civil society, and technology companies to work together,”

and WhatsApp further added in response to government notice that it would work together with society and technology companies to handle the issues like fake news, misinformation, and the spread of scam.
Whatsapp taking the government notice very seriously has done many changes to prevent fake information and rumors on its platform . for this recently many changes were made to group chats as well.


Facebook-owned company WhatsApp further said in a statement that “We added new protections to prevent people from adding others back into groups which they had left — a form of misuse we think it is important to correct… we launched a new setting that enables administrators to decide who gets to send messages within individual groups,” and it added that this step of the company would surely find the solution of this major problem like spreading misinformation on this platform.
instant messaging application Whatsapp also discussed its step which is taking to prevent such kind of mob violence on this platform, it added that company is testing a new label in the nation in which it would highlight when a message has been forwarded versus composed by the sender.
it is also said by the company that “This focus on privacy brings many benefits, though as with all technology there are trade-offs. And for WhatsApp, that’s the inability to see problematic content spreading through private conversations on our app,”
