If You Think This Is A Picture Of A Grandmother Holding Her Grandchild, Look At The Photo Twice
When you step into the world of London-based sculptor Ron Mueck, you might feel like you’ve crossed over into the Twilight Zone.
Really, your eyes may deceive you! What looks like a living breathing grandmother with her grandchild, but it’s, in fact, an artist’s hyper-realistic sculpture!
Yes, these are not what they seem to be. These are hyper-realistic sculptures, they are so detailed, you even can not figure out whether they are alive or not.
Hyperrealism is a style of art (not just limited to sculpture) where the artist’s aim is to create something that looks as if it were real. Hyperrealistic paintings, for instance, often look like an HD photograph.
Recently, the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum (known locally as “Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao”) in Spain held an exhibition titled Hyperrealist Sculpture 1973-2016.
So guys here is a collection of some of the best and most impressive masterpieces from the exhibition Hyperrealist Sculpture 1973-2016 at the Museum in Spain.
Have A Look At Them:
Peter Land – Back To Square One (2015):
Materials: silicone, human hair, fabric, cardboard, leather; Size variable.
You think that’s a joke? Not at all, it’s a man hidden in boxes. It’s a self-portrait of this sculpture’s creator.
Mark Sijan – Cornered (2011)
Materials: silicone, human hair, paint, resin
Pay attention to those feet, all those wrinkles, nails look so real! Besides, that look in her eyes.…incredible!
Paul McCarthy – That Girl. (T.G. Awake) (2012-2013)
At first, you may think this is a nude model, but it’s a collection, consists of three sculptures that look so real! Just look at the texture of the skin, hair, veins and birthmarks.
Sam Jinks – Untitled(Kneeled Woman) (2015)
I just caught myself on a thought that I want to touch the sculpture so much, to make sure those are not real people. All those sculptures are made of silicon.
Carole A. Feuerman – General’s Daughter(2011)
Materials: oil on resin
No, the drops are not real. Look at the pores and texture of the skin. It’s so hard to believe they are actually made of resin and oil!
Sam Jinks – Woman and Child (2010)
This sculpture is outstanding!
Materials: silicone, silk, human hair
How impressive is this? Everything is perfect, right down to the baby’s clenched fists and newborn “glow.”
Duane Hanson – Traveler (1989)
“Excuse me, why are you sleeping in the museum?”
Zharko Basheski – Ordinary Man (2009-2010)
