Publication Of Final NRC Will Be Done Only After Disposal Of All Claims, Objections And Corrections

Guwahati: As per an official at the NRC Assam coordinator’s office, those people who were excluded in the final NRC draft are only eligible to file claims and objections after they submitted applications to prove their Indian citizenship till the last date of August 31, 2015.

For those people who have not been able to apply till August 31 2015, cannot apply between August 10 and September 28, slated for filing claims and objections, the National Register of Citizens official told news agencies.

After the final NRC is published, a decision in this regard will be taken for those who could not submit their applications in 2015 according to the directive of the Supreme Court, he said.

After disposal of all claims, objections and corrections only will be the final NRC published and the date for its publication will be fixed by the Supreme Court.

Many eminent people had not submitted their applications within the stipulated time and consequently their names are missing from the list, the examples of which are former chief minister Anwara Taimur and relatives of former president Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed.

The final NRC will have names of all those persons born till the last date of submission of the applications.

Apart from that, inclusion of any child born to the applicant after August 31, 2015 is not allowed through claims, he said.

In the same way, if any of the applicants dies after the application form is submitted and their names were found to be eligible, there names will not be excluded from the final NRC list, he said.

Claims and objections must be mandatorily submitted to the Local Registrar of Citizen Registrations (LRCR) only and not through online mode, but corrections can be easily made online.

Despite any change in address after the submission of the form, claims can be submitted only at the NSKs where the people had originally submitted their applications, the official said.

The claim can be submitted with additional documents or along with the same documents submitted earlier.

The submission of objections are allowed only at the NSKs covering the residence of a person and that will require grounds to raise objections, he said.

Forms pertaining to the raising of claims, objections and corrections will be made available at the NSKs and can be downloaded from the NRC website from August 10 onwards. Those who want to apply should approach NSKs in time.
