Australian Cricketer Phil Hughes Passes Away After Two Days of Head Injury

Two days after being hit on the head by a ball the Australian cricketer and test batsmen Phil Hughes died.  He was undergoing treatment at St Vincent’s hospital in Sydney. Australian Team Doctor Peter Brukner at St Vincent’s hospital said since the moment of Phil Hughes admittance to the hospital and trauma center he never regained consciousness and died in hospital in Sydney.

Adding to this Dr, Brunker at St Vincent’s hospital in Sydney said in a media conference that “It is my sad duty to inform you that a short time ago Phillip Hughes passed away. He never regained consciousness following his injury on Tuesday. He was not in pain before he passed and was surrounded by his family and close friends. As a cricket community, we mourn his loss and extend our deepest sympathies to Phillip’s family and friends at this incredibly sad time. Cricket Australia kindly asks that the privacy of the Hughes family, players and staff be respected.”

Australian Cricketer Phil Hughes Passes Away After Two Days of Head Injury

Australian Batsman Phil Hughes, 25-year-old collapsed unconscious and was in a critical condition after being struck by a bouncer in Sydney on Tuesday. The South Australian Batsmen who played 26 tests during 2009 to 2013 collapsed after delivery from New South Wales bowler Sean Abbott. Despite wearing a helmet Phil Hughes got hit and collapsed on the cricket pitch which dismayed everyone at the match and the Sheffield Shield match was abandoned after hospitalizing the injured player Phil Hughes who is reported to have been assisted with all the emergency medical services at the cricket stadium post his injury.

According to the earlier reports it stated by the official sources is that Phil Hughes wore an older model of helmet which provided minimal protection to the head and unfortunately got struck by the ball. After the occurrence of the mishap Phil Hughes was carried off on a stretcher at the Sydney Cricket Ground after a short-pitched delivery struck his head, missing his helmet. Initially, he was given a CPR and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation before being taken to hospital and placed in an induced coma. It is a moment of sadness for cricket fraternity.
