SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus “Baahubali” raced past the vaunted Rs 500-crore mark on Sunday after staying strong at the worldwide box office for four weeks since its release. This is the first time that a film made in a language that’s not Hindi has managed to earn over Rs 500 crore and enter this hallowed club.

Released on June 10, the movie that stars Tollywood actor Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead roles. It is a mythological drama about two brothers at war for a kingdom.

Bahubali crosses Rs 500 crore mark at the box office:

PK and Dhoom 3, both starring Aamir Khan, were the films which earlier made over Rs 500 crore. There were concerns that Baahubali will not be able to fend off competition from Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan but both the films have held their own at the box office.

Baahubali has managed to hang on to more than 2,000 screens around the world in its fourth week. It has earned praise for its amazing special effects and its massive scale.

After the humongous success of the film many celebs took Twitter to praise the artwork and even Shah Rukh Khan couldn’t resist himself from doing so and tweeted, ” Baahubali what a hard worked at film. 2 every1 involved thanx for the inspiration. Interestingly, the Hindi version (dubbed) of the film is inching closer to the Rs 100 crore mark at the Box Office, tweets trade analyst Taran Adarsh. The second part of the film will be released next year and the makers have started working on it.
