Police Report: An 18-year-old girl committed suicide after her mother scolded her for buying a smartphone.

The incident happened in the district of Seoni at Umarwada village of Madhya Pradesh.

Santosh Dhurve, the Officer-In-Charge of the Barghat Police Station said that the teenager hanged herself from the ceiling fan on Monday.

She was found hanging from the ceiling when her younger brother came home.

Dhurve said that the police also recovered a suicide note which was written by the 18-year-old girl, it was recovered from the crime scene.

Officials said that the teenager apologized to her mother in the letter.

The mother of the teenager is a laborer, she said that her daughter bought the phone with the money that was supposed to be used for repaying a loan.

The minor hanged herself on Monday morning, and a probe has been launched for the incident, said Officer Dhurve.
