A Sherrif from the Benton County Office interviewed Charles Ferris when he was admitted in a hospital, the official said that he was trying to cover the incident by telling a false cover up story for the injuries he attained from the incident.
Ferris had a red spot on his chest.
Ferris said that an asset paid $200 for protection. When the 2 of them met a man by 10 PM, they ended up in a gunfight and said that he was hit multiple times before he return fired.
But, the wife of Ferris said that her husband and Hicks, their neighbor, were drinking outside their home when the gunfire broke out.
Later on, 50-year-old Ferris admitted that he and Hicks were drinking and took turns shooting at each other with a semi-automatic rifle while wearing bulletproof vests.
Ferris asked his neighbor to shoot him with a .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle at his chest while he wore the bulletproof vest, the gunshot was powerful and left a mark on his chest.
Investigations revealed that Ferris was pissed about the injury.
He emptied the clip at 36-year-old Christopher Hicks who was hit 5 times in his back. Luckily, Hicks was wearing the bullet proof vest and none of the bullets went through the material.
36-year-old Christopher Hicks and 50-year-old Charles Eugene Ferris were arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault which is a Class D Felony and carries the penalty of up to 6 years in prison with a fine of $10,000.
Neighbors in the block were alarmed about the incident, especially those who have kids in their house.
One neighbor of Hicks said, “I have three kids, two of them still live at home here… right next to them. They shoot as many as 50 to 100 rounds at a time. I just want to make sure it’s not just left hanging, no charges. There has to be something done about it. If nothing is done it could escalate into someone getting seriously injured. Maybe somebody that is not on their property.”
No charges were filed against 36-year-old Christopher Hicks and 50-year-old Charles Eugene Ferris, they were released on a $five thousand bond.
Officials said that Hicks and Ferris will appear in a court on May 13.
