3 Diamond-Studded Crowns Stolen From Tirupati Temple
Three Diamond-Studded golden crowns were stolen from the Sri Govindarajaswami Temple on Saturday, this temple is one of the biggest temples in Tirupati Andhra Pradesh.
The police say that they suspect the thief came during the time of the evening Prasad offerings, a report was filed by Sri Gyana Prakash the temple superintendent.
The Tirupati Temple was closed from 5pm to 5:45pm, these are the Prasad offering timings. Priest Harikrishna Deekshituli took charge from Priest Vijayasaradhi when the temple re-opened after the Prasad offerings, he then notices that the crowns were not there. He immediately called Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanam and filed a complaint on Sunday Morning.
The crowns of Malayappa, Sridevi, and Bhoodevi weighed at 1351 grams. The Malayappa crown weighs at 528 grams, the Sridevi crown weighs at 408 grams, and the Bhoodevi crown weighs at 415 grams.
An officer said that: “We are examining all the CCTV footages and everyone who was on the location will be treated as a suspect and will be interrogated.”
One BJP leader and his party workers were seen protesting against the theft, The Sri Govindarajaswami Temple is one of the most oldest temples that is located in the heart of the city.
