Report: Forrest officials said that a 3-month-old lion cub was found dead near a farm in the Gir Forest of Gujarat on Monday.

The dead body of the lion cub was found on Monday evening. Preliminary investigations show that the cub might have been killed in a territorial fight amongst lions that are trying to prove their dominance over an area of the forest.

The death of the lion cub is the 2nd recorded case in this month alone.

A couple of weeks ago, a male lion killed 2 lion cubs in a territorial fight in the Visavadar area of the Gir Forest.

In February, 2 male lions, a lioness, and a cub were found dead in the Gir Forest.

A census in 2015 said that the Gir Forest is home to around 523 lions. Recently, the Gujarat Government said that the numbers are now around the 600 range.
