Three Women Accused TVF Founder Arunabh Kumar On Sexual Abuse And Molestation In Individual Cases, Everything You Need To Know About The Issue
The Viral Fever (TVF) best known as the country’s leading youtube channel for its take on politics, day to day experiences, funny stuff and satirical news. Out of various other channels like BB Ki Vines, All India Bakchod (AIB), East India Comedy (EIC), TVF was however considered as the beginning of the new generation comedy.
Despite the strong competition from its rivals, this channel is, however, managing to took hold of its firm stand in the market. Despite the content and the publicity, TVF now took a blow from its own staff, well the reasons behind this are the abuse and molestation and surprisingly the founder, Arunabh Kumar himself is the man behind it.
Shockingly, the whole social media was going gaga over the multiple allegations made by its former staff. In the beginning, the allegations made by one of its ex-employee was however considered as the edgeless one, but the following complaints from two other individuals have taken the Internet by storm strengthening the former’s statements.
Coming to the story, around Sunday midnight, an anonymous blog post that surfaced on the portal medium.com under the handle Indian Fowler claimed that Arunabh Kumar has sexually exploited her during the span of 2 years, bound by the agreement.
She further said that she is a graduate of Delhi University, she approached Arunabh for the job as he belongs to the Bihar’s Muzaffarpur, where she’s also from. After recruiting her, he started abusing her from the very first month, she tried to leave the company but was told that she has to face dire consequences if she breaks the two-year agreement. However, she managed to complete the two years, in 2016 she left TVF.
Included that she shared her experience with one of her colleague named Naveen Kasturia and he brushed off her statements as if it was quite common.
“Since then it became routine. Right from Pitchers to Tripling, I was molested. Be it in parties where Arunabh would try to lift me or would try and fall on me pretending he is drunk. One instance was the Ola deal. The Ola team was meeting him and we were taking notes. He walks out of the meeting with some excuse and calls me for some notes. I walk up. He says it’s time we do quickly. I am stunned. And I told him I will go to the police. He says ‘Police to mere pockets me hai’. I walked out deciding never to come back. Then get a call from Legal saying that I am in a breach of contract (sic),” mentioned in her accusation.
Countering her accusations, the TVF staff in their official handles mentioned that the post was “baseless” and termed the post “completely ludicrous and defamatory”, adding:
“This is an official response from TVF on the anonymous article published on Medium by the Indian Fowler. The article is completely ludicrous and defamatory against TVF and its team. All the allegations made against TVF and its team in the article are categorically false, baseless and unverified. We take a lot of pride in our team and in making TVF a safe workplace that is equally comfortable for women and men. We will leave no stone unturned to find the author of the article and bring them to severe justice for making such false allegations. It is our humble request that you do not share an unsubstantiated, unverified and anonymous article such as this”.
On the other side, the media sources state that “There are several other points in the blog which seem factually incorrect. We are preparing an elaborate response to the accusations made on the blog.”
When asked about the incident, Kasturia dismissed the blog’s statements, later on, various former staff started raising the allegations. One named Aayushi Agarwal came forward saying that she worked as a graphic art designer and left TVF two months back because of the constant harassment.
In addition to Aayushi’s post, another woman named Reema Sengupta supported the anonymous’ claim and stated in her facebook post:
“As I talk, he finds some lame excuse to place his hand on my hand (which was on the table in his glass cabin). In the middle of the shoot, he touches my shoulder tattoo and tells me he finds it sexy. After every other shot, he would come over to the monitor to see how the shot looks, but at the same time graze his hand against my waist. All this in a 5-hour shoot (sic).
