Earlier on Saturday evening, four students were arrested for chasing Indian textile Minister Smriti Irani’s car and booked for stalking, using offensive language and gestures, as said by the concerned police officials on Sunday.

The suspects who aged between 20 and 25, were arrested on the respective day itself in New Delhi, the Indian capital city, after the minister’s security staff stopped their vehicle and handed them over to the NCR’s police.

When asked about the scene, the police said that the four young people inside a car chased the minister’s car and tried to overtake her twice in a rash near the Myanmar embassy in Chanakyapuri region. Police further added that the youth were drunk.

“We took the students to a hospital and their medical examination confirmed the presence of alcohol in their blood, they were returning from a friend’s birthday party in south Delhi and were roaming in the area for fun. They have been held for speeding, drinking and misbehaving with the minister and her staff,’’ stated a police official.

In a bid to praise the textile minister Irani, the concerned Delhi Commission for Women Chief Swati Maliwal took on to her Twitter handle and posted:

“Good Smriti Irani acted against men who chased her encourages others to report important center state work together for women safety in Delhi.”
