70-Year-Old Woman From Ghaziabad Dies After An Unsupported Wall Collapsed On Her
A 70-year-old woman passed away in Ghaziabad after an unsupported wall collapsed on her, eyewitnesses of the incident said that the wall collapsed by 6:45 am on Tuesday.
The 70-year-old woman has been identified as Tilsari, she lived in Vijay Nagar. Residents of the area are blaming a contractor for the incident, the residents said that a railway contractor left out the walls of 4 shops without proper support, the shops were demolished as part of a road widening project that was being handled by the contractor.
The wall collapsed on early Tuesday morning over Tilsari which caused her death.
An owner of a demolished shop in the area said that the contractor initially said that only 4 feet of space will be demolished, but once the demolition process started, his entire shop was removed.
The owner said, “We had asked the contractor to demolish the wall built along the temple, but they did not pay any heed. It was bound to collapse and could have resulted in a bigger tragedy, had it taken place around 10-11 am as the place is frequented by a large number of railway passengers.”
No official statement has been released by the local government about the incident.
