Aadhar Card Not Compulsory For JEE Main Registration 2019: NTA – JEE Mains, one of the most prestigious engineering entrance examinations besides GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) has again captured the headlines today after it last time covered the headlines about percentile system in Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination.
No doubt, JEE Main examination is on the head. From 6th January 2019 to 20th January 2018, Board of Controller of Examinations, National Testing Agency, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (URD), Government of India will organise JEE Mains examination. For which, Application Forms have been started to be filled online from 1st September 2018 and will be continued until 30th September 2018. Regarding no mandatory requirement of 12 digit UIDAI number or Unique Identification Authority of India.
NTA’s statement is now available in the public or press media which states that “The note on Page 11 of UGC NET Bulletin December 2018 clearly provides that the candidates can also enter passport number, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid government identity number. Thus, in this connection it is hereby clarified that while filling in an Online Application Form for JEE Mains 2019 and beyond and as per the ‘Replica of Application Form’ given in Annexure VIII page 39-40 of UGC NET Bulletin December 2018 in the drop down box regarding ‘Identification Type’ as also given on Page 11, the Aadhar number is only one of the types of identification and is not mandatory.”
It also seems like now NTA is thinking of tracing and follow the footprints of Common Admission Test, major MBA Entrance exam of the nation. IIM CAT is a major entrance exam of the nation that follows percentile system with marking scheme. Since National Testing Agency (NTA) is going to organise JEE Main twice a year, now, JEE Main will provide a percentile-based score instead of absolute marks from 2019 onwards.
