New Delhi: According to two Aam Aadmi Party leaders, the party will try to win at least 25 seats out of the total 100 that it plans to contest in the coming next Lok Sabha election to make its strategy in a better position in case a non-BJP government comes up at the centre.

As per the emerging political scenario, the Aam Aadmi Party needs to ensure winning at least 25 seats to position itself in a very comfortable way to get help in bargaining with other parties after the results comes out in general election in 2019, a senior party leader said.

“The party is eyeing 100 potential seats. We will do whatever it takes to win at least 25 seats, particularly in Delhi, Haryana and Punjab, where we have a strong presence and effective organizational set up,” the leader said.

He further said that the party will contest at least three states for the Lok Sabha polls, viz. Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, as the assembly elections are scheduled in these states later this year, besides focusing in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana.

The other states where the party wants to contests for Lok Sabha seats are Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Bihar.

As of now, the AAP holds at least four Lok Sabha seats in the state of Punjab.

Another party said that the state of Punjab has a total of 13 Lok Sabha seats and the AAP would work hard to raise its seats numbers as it is already an opposition party in the Punjab Assembly.

The national convener of AAP and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal recently was in Haryana to visit areas there in which the state’s party head Navin Jaihind has been successful in strengthening the organization in several constituencies, he said.

“We will work hard to pose a tough challenge to BJP and Congress on all the 10 seats in Haryana,” he said.

In the current political scenario, the leadership of AAP has increased its campaign against the government of Narendra Modi among which is the criticism by Mr. Arvind Kejriwal to target the Prime Minister over the political controversy of 36 Rafale jet fighters purchase from France.

On Saturday, Mr. Kejriwal sought for special session of Parliament by the Prime Minister Modi to discuss the Rafale deal.

And on Friday, he demanded the BJP-led government at the centre to admit the truth over the deal of Rafale fighter jets after the comments made by former French president Francois Hollande.

Mr. Hollande was quoted as saying in an interview that the government of India proposed the name of Anil Ambani’s company, Reliance Defence as the offset partner in the deal with French aerospace giant Dassault Aviation in the Rafale deal amounting to Rs. 58,000 crores.

The government at the centre reiterated its earlier stance that it does not have any role in the selection of Reliance Defence as a partner for Dassault Aviation.

The two AAP leaders said on Sunday that the raising of a mix of local and national issues would prove to be helpful in achieving success in the coming Lok Sabha polls.
