Aligarh: 3 Arrested For Shooting at Mahatma Gandhi’s Effigy

A case was filed against 13 people after a video showed them firing shots at an effigy of Mahatma Gandhi, the group was led by Hindu Mahashaba’s Shakun Pandey, and he is also the secretary of the group. The incident happened on his 71st death anniversary.

The Police said that: ”We are taking this matter seriously and action will be taken against all those found guilty.”

The Hindu Mahasabha is the group of Nathuram Godse, the person who killed Mahatma Gandhi, they also garlanded his statue and started to distribute sweets on his death anniversary.

Puja Shakun Pandey told the reporters that the group has created a new tradition that will be practiced for years to come, the tradition is similar to what happens to the Demon King Ravana on the day of Dussehra.

The Hindu Mahasabha calls the day of Gandhi’s death as the Bravery Day which they honor to Nathuram Godse, the person who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi. The activist was once a member of the group, The Hindu Mahasabha was founded in 1915 by Madan Mohan Malaviya.

This is not the first time that the group has tried to praise Nathuram during the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Back in 2015, Swami Pranavananda announced his plans to add statues of Nathuram Godse in 6 districts of Karnataka. He called Nathuram Godse a patriot who had the blessings of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar the Hindu Nationalist.
