Amazon Unveils New Waterproof Kindle Paperwhite @Rs. 12,999
Amazon has launched a new Kindle called as Paperwhite with waterproof technology. The new Kindle has already received many pre-orders in India at the price of Rs. 12,999. The new Kindle Paperwhite will be supplied from November 14 onwards. The new Kindle Paperwhite has been rated at IPX8, which implies that the product can be immersed into the water for up to two metres for a total time period of 60 minutes. There was a demand for such a type of product with waterproof feature from the users from a long time, and Amazon was successful in launching the product. The first such kind of waterproof ebook reader from Amazon was the Kindle Oasis, but the same kind of feature can now be availed at somewhat cheaper price.
The size of the screen for the device is exactly the same as the previous generation Kindle Paperwhite and measures six inches. The new variant is now available in two storage facilities of 8GB with Wi-Fi or 32GB with Wi-Fi plus 4G. The cost of the 32GB Kindle Paperwhite 4G is Rs. 17,999 and it is the only kindle in the market with 4G feature. Compared to it is the more expensive Kindle Oasis that comes with a 3G variant.
The display of the new Kindle Paperwhite comes with the same level as that of the rest of the screen, but is an improvement from the earlier one, as the display in that was slightly below the bezels. The new Kindle Paperwhite has got two qualities compared to the previous one and that is being thinner and lighter. The display has got a front light with five LEDs but does not have the adaptive brightness feature as seen in the Kindle Oasis.
Talking about the software side, there are couple of improvements on the new Kindle Paperwhite. The Kindle has got a new home screen that keeps on recommending books depending upon your reading history and sometimes some of them may come free for you to read via Kindle Unlimited or Prime Reading subscription services. Apart from that, you have the option of saving multiple reading settings like the font and size and can be switched between these profiles very quickly. These features become great for homes where a single Kindle is being shared by many people.
At last, the Kindle Paperwhite also gets a line of covers from Amazon, which comes at a cost of Rs. 1,799 for water-safe fabric covers, Rs. 2,399 for leather, and Rs. 2,999 for the rustic premium leather cover. Such type of covers have a feature of magnetic snap-on, which prevents the flap from getting open unless you yourself open it. It can also lock automatically and unlocks the device (unless you’ve password protected it).
