BJP Leader Files Defamation Case Against Rahul For Modi’s Comparison To Nirav, Lalit

Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh: The BJP leader Shalabh Mani Tripathi on Friday filed a defamation case against Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi over the allegation that he made derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi while he was addressing the party’s national conclave in New Delhi recently.

The BJP leader had filed the complaint at the Deoria district fast track court based on the sections 499 and 500 (defamation) of the Indian Penal Code.

Mr Tripathi’s lawyer said that April 5 is the fixed for the hearing in the case.

When contacted, Mr Tripathi said, “During the Congress party national conclave in Delhi, Rahul Gandhi tried to draw similarities between PM Modi, Nirav Modi (tainted diamond businessman) and Lalit Modi (former IPL commissioner).”

“He also said the name Modi had become synonymous to corruption. This remark has hurt the sentiments of BJP party workers and countrymen and for this reason I have filed a defamation case against him in Deoria court,” he said.

The Congress party reacted to the development and said that it would keep raising voice against government’s policies and its “failure” to check corruption.

“It is our duty to raise issues related to the people of the country and we will continue to do so,” said Congress district general secretary Anwar Hussain. “We are ready to face court cases and even jail for our country.”

The recently held three day Congress national conclave in Delhi on March 16,17 and 18, Congress president Rahul Gandhi attacked PM Modi and compared him to the likes of Nirav Modi and Lalit Modi, both of whom are accused of fleeing the country after committing massive fraud.

During the meet, the party also discussed ideas and strategies to counter the BJP-led government at the Centre for the coming elections in 2019. The urged all party members in the country to devise plans to oust the present government under Modi. Every common party member was given a chance to air their views or grievance. The main agenda of the party was to press on the development topic. But during the meet, both Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi took pot shots at Modi. And its was this time that Rahul ill-talked about Modi and compared him to the likes of Nirav Modi and Lalit Modi.

With the ease of fleeing, now it has become common for money-makers to fraud banks and leave the country. The case of Vijaya Mallaya is not solved yet. The last news was about Indian Government trying to extradite him Britain Government.

Apart from these, there are fresh controversies coming up in the media related to bank fraud. The latest being the Haryana banks fraud.

The Government must act against such scams from occurring again and again.
