Bollywood ‘Queen’ to Endorse Himachal Pradesh State Government Tourism

Himachal Pradesh State government seems to be following the footsteps of Gujarat to promote the tourism of the heavenly state and revenue too. Gujarat state after inducing Bollywood legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan as the brand ambassador of state tourism managed to get the attention of the nation and the people across the globe. Making Amitabh Bachchan as the brand ambassador and his endorsing for the state tourism of Gujarat has helped the state to get special concern globally generating remarkable revenue and tourism.

Himachal Pradesh Robes in Bollywood Actress Kanagan Ranuat as Brand Ambassador

Himachal Pradesh has been well known for its domestic and international arena of natural beauty and essence of the Himalayan romantic climate. The state government has been up with a beneficiary thought of increasing its tourism and the revenue generated through it. Close aids of the Kangana Ranaut and the state government sources hint that the award winning Bollywood actress was initially approached to endorse the state tourism of Himachal Pradesh and is yet to be finalized.

Major Vijay Singh Mankotia, Vice-Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Board (HPTDB) proclaimed that Kangana Ranaut to be the brand ambassador of the state tourism as Gujarat has got promoted by leaps and bounds after engaging Bachchan as brand ambassador. Major Vijay Singh Mankotia said “I once asked Gujarat tourism minister what did they do for tourism promotion and his answer was simple: ‘We made Amitabh Bachchan our brand ambassador.” He further added that Gujarat states Rann of Kutch used to be a deserted place while today after the state’s tourism being endorsed  by the Megastar Amitabh Bachchan it has become a great tourism destination where Rann festival is held from December to March.

Mr. Mankotia opined that Himachal Pradesh state has all the possibilities in adequate measures offering scenic beauty than Jammu and Kashmir. While what held back the state so far is that it’s in ability to promote the state tourism. Kanaga Ranuat hailing from Himachal Pradesh has achieved a great milestone in Bollywood in recognition to her work added to this her efforts would be immense use to state, in promoting the tourism. Himachal Pradesh state government planned to have Bollywood singer Mohit Chauhan and actor Preity Zinta as the brand ambassadors of the state while those speculations were not materialized.

Himachal State government has framed a special policy Draft Film Policy 2015 to lure the Bollywood film industry to its scenic locations which includes construction of film centre near Shimla including a studio and equipment would be arranged for film crews coming to the state. Added to this state government is also planning to avail best incentives and perks for the Indian film industry then the rest of neighboring states. The state govt. of Himachal Pradesh is also planning to host a including a studio and equipment would be arranged for film crews coming to the state.

Himachal Pradesh would be hosting a Himalayan Tourism Mart in the month of October-November this year where Himalayan states of Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Uttrakhand, Jammu and Kashmir would be invited to make the state a Himalayan tourist centered. Further the state is planning to organize the an apple festival in Kullu-Manali in August and at Shimla in September first week. Tourism has been contributing around 10% of GSDPwhich is likely to increase to 15% by 2020 with a Rs 5,000 crore industry in the state.
