As Facebook started facing from everywhere as the consequences of Cambridge University scam bursts out last Friday, here is one more shocker from Brian Acton, the co-founder of WhatsApp, which was bought by Facebook in 2014 for a whopping 19 billion dollars.

Brian Acton, the co-founder of the most used messaging service platform WhatsApp, has sent out a tweet from his Twitter account on Tuesday telling people that “It is time. #deletefacebook.”

With the tweet from Brian Action, the #DeleteFacebook hashtag spread like a fire all over the Twitter and trended in the wake of the accounts that Facebook user information landed in political advertisers’ hands without the consent of the users.
Brain Acton co-founded WhatsApp in the year 2009 and Facebook bought it for 19 billion dollars. Before that, Brain Acton was fired from Twitter and Facebook before he founded the most popular messaging application in the world.
Facebook is under pressure for mishandling its user data. The New York Times’ series of reports, Observer and Channel 4 said that the University of Cambridge lecturer Aleksandr Kogan and a political data analytics firm called Cambridge Analytica worked together to leak the information on more than 50 million user profiles on Facebook. Facebook did not discuss the issue until last Friday through the issue came to a concern of Facebook in 2015 itself.
Since the last one week, Facebook has been facing a lot of criticism from all the fronts, and in particular, the co-founder of Facebook’s silence is questioned. Defensive tweets by the executives and legal threats towards the Guardian.
Both Acton and Facebook have declined to comment on the ruckus going on related to the privacy of Facebook accounts.
With these consequences, the users on Facebook are login out and deleting the accounts permanently, which has resulted in billion dollars of loss for Facebook in the share market.
How to delete Facebook Account Permanently?
Since the users of Facebook are in panic considering the security of their profiles, many are searching on how to delete the Facebook accounts permanently. Here is how it is done.
- You have to go to the Privacy settings on your Facebook profile and deactivate your account first.
- To deactivate your profile, follow these steps:
- First, go to the account menu down arrow at the top right of any Facebook profile in your browser.
- Then select settings
- Then choose security in the left column.
- There you can see an option to deactivate your account, and then follow the steps to confirm your decision.
