Chandigarh: The Panchkula CBI court denied bail to Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in another case of involvement in castration of 400 of his followers and presently he is serving a 20-year jail term each in two rape cases.

The bail plea by Gurmeet Ram Rahim was dismissed just three days after he had moved the court to get it.

The Panchkula court had recently framed charges of criminal intimidation, cheating and another one for causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons against Gurmeet in the castration case.

Apart from that, he was also charged with the crime of conspiring along with two doctors namely, Pankaj Garg and MP Singh, both of whom were allegedly involved in castration of almost 400 of the followers of the sect.

Earlier to that, CBI had filed a charge sheet against the Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet along with the two doctors alleged to have been involved in getting the sect followers castrated.

As per the allegations leveled against them, they castrated the men who were at the Sirsa-based Dera by telling the victims that the operation will lead to the realization of God by means of Dera chief. The charge sheet had been filed in Panchkula special CBI court.

The central agency had registered the criminal case of alleged conspiracy to hurt voluntarily by causing grievous hurt using dangerous weapons among other charges provided by the Indian Penal Code against Ram Rahim and several others in 2015.

The probe was then handed over to the agency by the Punjab and Haryana High Court after a plea was made by a dera follower.

Meanwhile, the CBI court, granted permission to Dr. Garg to pay a visit to the UK within a timeframe of November 3 to November 11 to be able to attend a medical conference.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insan is the chief of the Dera Sacha Sauda, a social group based in Sirsa, Haryana.

The chief was convicted of rape on 25 August 2017 by a special court of CBI. After the conviction, there were incidents of widespread violence by the members of the Dera Sacha Sauda resulting in deadly clashes between the group members and police personnel.
