CCTV Footage: Smoking Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Caught On Camera
Samsung has ended production of the Galaxy Note 7 due to reports that both original and replacement units of the phone were catching on fire, and now a video shows how at least one of the incidents occurred. Samsung has ended the production of the Galaxy Note 7.
Unable to replicate the problem, and with reports of flaming devices mounting up, Samsung initially concluded the problem was with some of the phones’ batteries. The incident was recorded on their home surveillance. The woman holding the smoking phone fainted on the couch and was tended to by another family member.

In a minute long CCTV footage, one can see Dee Decasa from Honolulu holding her Galaxy Note 7 as it began to smoke. Decasa looks so alarmed that after bringing the device into the kitchen.
“The fact that she was holding something that was burning in her hands, she was in shock,” said Mel DeCasa.
“I just got up. I was half asleep. Unfortunately after that, I don’t know if it was the smoke that caused it. You can see the smoke in the video, she collapses. I was concerned,” Mel DeCasa added. We also tried reaching out to the representative, but the call went to voicemail.
At this point, Samsung is asking Galaxy Note 7 users not to turn on the phone, and to return it to their carrier to get a different smartphone model. A compensation scheme is being put in place – users will be offered the choice of either getting all their money back or swapping the phablet for an older, smaller-screened Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge phone plus a partial refund.
