Christchurch Shooting Survivor Says A Hero Picked Up The Gun Of The Attacker And Chased Him
Abdul Aziz, the hero who did not hide when the shooter attacked the Linwood Mosque on Friday and killed anyone who was in his path, all of the people present inside the mosque were there for their Friday prayers.
Instead of backing up, Abdul Aziz ran outside the mosque and challenged the attacker by shouting “Come Here!”
48-year-old Abdul Aziz has been called a Hero by a lot of people who were inside the mosque, he chased the attacker before scaring him into his getaway vehicle.
The 4 sons of Abdul remained inside the mosque while he had a faceoff with the gunman.
An Indian survivor from the Christchurch shared how Abdul grabbed the gun of the attacker while he was on a killing spree, the survivor said that the “Hero” prevented the shooting into becoming a bigger tragedy.
Christchurch shooting survivor Faisal Sayed said “We were in a small mosque – measuring about a hundred square meters – and when you have a gunman coming in and opening fire in such circumstances, your heart beats faster and you can’t feel anything. But a friend and I witnessed this gentleman creep up behind the shooter and hold him until his gun dropped.”
Faisal Sayed said that the heroic action of Abdul left the shooter to rush back at the front door of the Linwood Mosque, Faisal said “If that hadn’t happened, many more would have died and I wouldn’t be here now. Hats off to that man, i will definitely try and look him up.”
Faisal Sayed was a former resident of Mumbai, he moved to New Zealand 10 years ago, he added “I can’t speak for anybody else, but I have been in this beautiful country for the last 10 years and I don’t see my loved ones, my family or even my community facing any challenges. I will never be the one to pass judgment based on a single incident.”
When he was asked if he had the thought of leaving New Zealand, he said “Not an option. I love New Zealand, I love the people around here, and I have received more calls from Kiwi families and friends than anybody else. Even people I worked with over 10 years ago have been texting to find out if everything is alright.”
Sayed added “There were a lot of casualties, and a lot of people have been calling. People tend to judge and jump the gun, but spreading the right message is key to making everything alright again.”
One of the friends of Faisal Sayed passed away after being shot in the incident, the other friend is still admitted in a hospital. A total of 8 people died in the mosque.
The gunman went live and showed everyone how he killed the men inside the mosque, in the video, you can see the attacker go inside every room he saw and shoot everyone who was in front of him. 4 people have been arrested, one of them was charged with murder.
