Class 12 Student Commits Suicide For Leaving 9 Marks In Boards, Had Scored 90% In Pre-Boards

Today’s students are tomorrow’s citizens. Students in India are facing a serious rife. Also, India is the country with a large number of student suicides. Students all over the nation are taking their exams, especially for class 10 and class 12 are taking the Board exams seriously and going through the exam pressure is taking a toll on their lives.

According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) 2015, every hour, one student is committing suicide in India.

Times of India has reported recently that a 12th class student gave in to the stress of having an exam and ended his life in Mohali on Wednesday. Karanvir Singh, a 17-year-old was upset with the exam results in the Physics paper and hanged himself with a ceiling fan in a few hours after the exam.

A suicide note was found in his room, which read,

I am sorry as I could not live up to your expectations and for not being able to fulfil your dreams. I love my grandparents the most and please do take good care of them.

The boy used to stay in his grandfather’s house to study as he felt his house was too noisy and he felt he used to get disturbed and not able to concentrate.

With the results of the exams, the boy was upset as he wasn’t able to write three questions of three marks in the Physics exam.

TOI quoted Karanvir’s father regretting asking his son about his performance after the exam.

On our way back from the examination centre, I asked Karan about his performance. When he said he left some questions, I told him that he should practise writing faster. I wish I had told him that marks don’t matter to us. The only thing that mattered was seeing his smiling face every morning.

His father said that the boy was a bright student and had scored 90% in his pre-boards exams, and he was also a topper in the class. He was looking forward to the IIT entrance exam in April 2018.
