Beware Of These Codes And Symbols Burglars Used To Mark Homes Before Breaking In

Police have published a list of special codes and symbols burglars are using to mark properties while planning raids on homes. The signs such as ‘alarmed house’, ‘wealthy’ and ‘nothing worth stealing’ are etched onto walls or nearby pavements as thieves decide which properties are worth targeting.

A LIST of cryptic codes and symbols believed to be used by BURGLARS to mark homes as they plan raids has emerged online. Residents are now being urged to look out for the markings, which have been spotted by numerous homeowners.

A total of eight signs and symbols were revealed on the list – which also include “too risky” and “wealthy”.

 

The symbols include 8 different meaning as mentioned below.

  1. Too Risky
  2. Alarmed House
  3. Wealthy
  4. Vulnerable Female
  5. Good Target
  6.  Nothing Worth Stealing
  7. Previously Burgled
  8. Occupant Afraid

Clandestine symbols have long thought to have been used by criminals to mark properties, telling others if they contain valuables or have already been targeted.

The shape of an open book means a vulnerable female resident is an occupant, while another symbol of interlocking squares indicates a homeowner who is ‘nervous and afraid’.

Next time if you find these marking on your walls pay some attention.
