Congress Finalizes Appointment Of Nine AICC Secretaries, Screening Panel For Telangana Formed
New Delhi: Congress president Rahul Gandhi today gave his nod for the appointment of nine new AICC secretaries along with a screening committee for poll-bound Telangana.
The chairmanship of Telangana screening committee has been given to Senior Congress leader Bhakt Charan Dass, while Jothimani Sennimalai and Sharmistha Mukherjee have been selected as panel members.
Mr. Gandhi also gave a green signal for the appointment of Nana Patole, a former MP, as chairman of the Kisan Khet Mazdoor (farmers-farm labourers) Congress, according to a statement from AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot.
Nana Patole is from the state of Maharashtra and resigned from the BJP party to join the Congress at the start of this year.
Mr. Patole is the vice president of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee as of now and was elected to the Lok Sabha on a BJP ticket from Bhandara-Gondiya in the year 2014 by defeating NCP heavyweight and former Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel. But later on, he quit the party in the month of December by accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis of failing to address issues pertaining to farmers.
For the post of secretaries, Zenith Sangma from Meghalaya for Arunachal Pradesh and Victor Keishing of Manipur for Meghalaya were selected to appoint them as secretaries. And for Manipur, Charles Pyngrope of Meghalaya was made AICC secretary.
And for Meghalaya, Ampareen Lyngdoh was made secretary for Meghayala and Pradyut Bordoloi from Assam was appointed for the same post for Nagaland. And for Sikkim, Pradyot Deb Burman was selected from Tripura for the AICC secretary seat, as per the statement from Mr. Gehlot.
Bhupen Kumar Borah has been appointed the AICC Secretary for the state of Tripura and he hails from Assam, while for Jammu and Kashmir, Sudhir Sharma from Himachal Pradesh has been assigned as the AICC Secretary. For Tamil Nadu, Sirivella Prasad from Andhra Pradesh has been appointed Secretary by the Congress party.
The Congress chief Rahul Gandhi has also approved the appointment of Mehndra Singh Bodh as acting chairperson of SC department for Madhya Pradesh PCC.
Lalit Mehra was made the chairman for the research department of Rajasthan, B S Shiju for Kerala PCC and Ulhas Parab for Goa PCC and for the research department of Chhattisgarh PCC, Idris Gandhi was made the chairman.
