This Is What Happens To Cricket Balls After The Match!!

Cricket is known as a gentleman’s game and has millions of fans all around the game. In India, we worship our cricketers and give them respect in the same way as God. This sport has emerged as a religion in our country.

Millions of fans eagerly wish to at least hold the bat or ball used in the match at least once and this can be evidently seen on the screen when the batsman hits a six. Do you know what happens with the ball after completing the game or after losing its shape?

If a bowler makes a record of taking 5/10 wickets in the match, then he can take the ball as a souvenir to his home and can be preserved by him. If the ball is used in any special matches then the ball can be retained by the cricket association of the stadium which can auction the ball or even store it as a memorabilia. The ball after the match is done will be used to practice in nets.

If the ball goes out of the stadium or gets lost, (though there are minimal chances of that happening) then the ball which was used in the previous match which has a similar condition like this ball will be used after the scrutiny of the umpire.

During T20’s, mostly in IPL, the ball is gifted to a person in the stadium which serves a promotional purpose. It’s mostly gifted to a superfan. While the used cricket balls are also donated to the people who desire to play cricket but doesn’t have the amenities to play the sport. This one is a good initiative by the cricket authority.

If a ball is still in good condition after playing, it might be used as a replacement ball. If the ball loses it shape, it is either kept as a memoir or re-used to make cricket balls again.
