Cyclone Roanu Expected To Hit Andhra Pradesh And Odisha, Alerts Sounded

After the heavy rains hit the parts of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, the Meteorological department has issued a warning regarding the cyclone in coming days. Winds in the two states are expected to hit at 100 km/h. The officials had given alerts to the coastal districts of both the states and are preparing to face the storm.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to take the precautionary measures and open relief camps. He also said to evacuate people from the isolated areas. Odisha Chief Minister Navin Patnaik also directed the officials to keep food supplies water supplies and medical support centres.

Cyclone alerts

“Post special officers in each Mandal to oversee relief operations. National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response and fire service personnel should focus on rescue operations wherever required. Closely observe the movement of Roanu and assess its impact. Plan your operations accordingly,” AP CM Naidu said.

“Clear all uprooted trees and electric poles to ensure the free flow of traffic and uninterrupted power supply”, he added.

According to the weather reports, the cyclonic system of Roanu has remained stable over the Bay of Bengal at Southwest of Odisha. It is expected to move north-eastwards along and cross over the coast of South Bangladesh.
