Spiritual Leader Dalai Lama Hospitalized In Delhi With Chest Infection

On Tuesday, 83-year-old Dalai Lama, the Tibetan spiritual leader was brought to the Max Hospital in Delhi for a health check-up after he faced some health complications.

Officials said that Dalai Lama had to travel from Dharamshala to New Delhi for the check-up.

Private Secretary Tenzin Taklha said, “He was brought to Delhi for checkup. The doctors said he had some sort of a chest infection. He is fine and stable. He’ll be treated for two more days.”

Recently, Dalai Lama was in Delhi as he attended a global learning conference that lasted until April 6.

The spiritual leader returned to Dharamshala on Monday.

During the global learning conference, Dalai Lama spoke about his body and his reincarnation.

The spiritual leader said, “If I live for another 10-15 years, the political situation in China will change. But if I die in the next few years, the Chinese government will show the reincarnation must happen in China.”

China said that the successor to Dalai Lama should be chosen accordingly to the rituals of the religion and its historical conventions as well as the backing from the ruling Communist Party.

The Dalai Lama has kept China on his tenterhooks about his successor.
