Deaf Man Adopts A Deaf Puppy From The North Florida Rescue And Teaches Him Sign Language
Nick Abbot, a deaf man that adopted a rescue puppy, who is also deaf, decided to teach him the sign language so the two can communicate with each other.
Nick Abbot, is from Maine, USA, he adopted Emerson, a cute puppy from the NFR Centere when he was only 12-weeks-old.
Emerson and his siblings were taken in by the North Florida Rescue when they were just 8-weeks-old, Emerson had been suffering from seizures, and could not eat or drink.
What’s worse is that the cute puppy developed the Parvo Virus, a virus that is life threatening.
The puppy fought the virus out and defeated all the odds, but what was really sad is that all of his friends were getting adopted.
And there came Nick, the GOAT.
During an interview, Nick said, “He came straight to me at the door and sat right away at my feet and stayed there. So you can tell he kind of picked me. And I knew right then and there that we would get along and understand each other pretty good.”
Nick is also deaf and is now teaching Emerson the sign language so they could communicate with each other.
When Nick signs the letter “S”, Emerson sits down, and when Nick does a straight line, Emerson lies down.
I’m not crying, you are.
Nick said that he and Emerson have an amazing bond with each other.
He added, “We understand each other very well. I’d like to think it was meant to be. He’s special.”
Nick decided to adopt Emerson, the deaf puppy, after he saw a Facebook post that was dedicated for Emerson, the post was made by the NFR.
The post said that Emerson was still looking for his home after his siblings were adopted.
Nick decided to reach out to the NFR Maine and shared that he was born deaf.
After Emerson was adopted, the NFR posted an update that said, “We just had a really tough time finding him the PERFECT home.”
It added, “Nick reached out with interest in Emerson because he too is deaf! Nick said he was interested in meeting Emerson because they would understand each other, being that they both share the same hearing difficulties. When Nick and his Mom walked into the house to meet Emerson, Emerson made a direct line for Nick and sat at his feet. That’s all it took. I was sold that this was fate, and these 2 belonged to each other.”
