Our 68th Republic Day saw several different spectacular events and speeches and almost anything could have caught our attention and stayed with us even after the event.

But, what was the highlight of our 68th Republic Day celebrations? If you have thought Prince of Abu Dhabi or Narendra Modi in your mind, well, you might have to think again. It is our Defence Minister who stole the show.

Yes, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar became a butt of jokes after he was caught sleeping during the Republic Day Parade 2017.

The photo shows the defense minister sitting alongside dignitaries including the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to watch the Republic Day parade, was caught on camera while sleeping during the event.

What was even more embarrassing that the video of Manohar Parrikar ‘sleeping’ during the Republic Day Parade was broadcast live by India’s national broadcaster Doordarshan. It means lakhs of viewers saw the Defence Minister taking a nap during the event.

This is not the first time Parrikar has been caught in an embarrassing situation. He was previously spotted sleeping during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day speech.

Coming back to the picture, the defense minister was being massively trolled on social media and people are busy giving hilarious captions to the same. Needless to say, Twitterati trolled him very badly making fun of the minister in all the possible ways.

Incidentally, this is the third time when Manohar Parrikar has been spotted sleeping during important event. In December 2014, Parrikar was seen sleeping with his open mouth during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Make In India” speech.

The Defence Minister had fallen asleep during PM Modi’s Independence Day speech 2016. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley were also found sleeping during the same event.
