Flight Attendants Will Never Tell You These Secrets

The flight attendants have some secrets about air travel that they would never share with passengers because they don’t want to make flying even more unpleasant.

Here are the few things that flight attendants won’t tell you :

1.People may not realize it, but the most unsanitary parts of the plane are actually the tray table in front of you and the seat belt. That’s because these items aren’t disinfected between flights, making them factories for germs.

2. Jokes about airline food are fodder for many stand-up comics. It turns out, it’s actually grosser than you realize. All the airline food is frozen and kept on the airplane for three days. You might assume the crew gets better food, but the flight attendants eat the same food the passengers do. And if somehow there isn’t enough food for the passengers, the staff have to go without so everyone else can eat.
3. If you’ve ever wondered why cabin crew are very meticulous about you fastening your seatbelt, putting your tray table up and having your seat in an upright position at the beginning and end of each flight, it’s because that’s when most crashes happen.

4. Though they tout themselves are real lifesavers, oxygen masks only contain about 15 minutes worth of oxygen from the moment of release. That doesn’t seem like enough time, but bear in mind that if the oxygen mask has dropped, that means that the pilot is trying to get to a lower altitude (where you can breathe normally) as quickly as possible.

5. For some ungodly reason, many airlines have a problem with people stealing the lifejackets for souvenirs. In fact, flight attendants and airline experts advise fliers to check for them as soon as they sit down. If it’s missing, it can be replaced.

6. Pilots fall asleep during flights. Exhausted pilots often catch accidental zzz’s during a trip. Thankfully, autopilot picks up the slack.

7. The blankets and pillows get reused over and over again. They just fold them up and put them away for the next flight.

8. Any drink made with water uses water from the tank in the plane, which is generally not very clean. That water is in a tank under the plane and the tank is cleaned very rarely.
9. You might be sitting near a dead person on your flight. They just put a blanket over the deceased and you’ll never know.
