North East Floods: Over Four Lakh Affected By Heavy Rain, Landslides In Assam, Manipur, Tripura And Mizoram
Since last week Torrential rain and huge flash floods have ruined several parts of North East India, this natural disaster took 17 lives in Manipur, Assam, Tripura, and Mizoram while many were injured in this life-threatening situation majority of them lost their shelters and houses.
Apart from this, More than 36,000 people were rescued by the rescue teams from the regions that were affected by the natural disaster, unpredictable power and water supply have also forced many of the schools and governments offices to remain closed, with many of the bank, mound, ridges have caved at different places in Assam, Manipur, Tripura, and Mizoram where many rivers flowing beyond the danger mark.
Around 55,000 people left their home because of this natural disaster in Imphal West. as the extremely huge floods have come in the valley.
District Commissioner Pravin Singh said that with the purpose for helping in flood-affected people and providing all necessary commodities in the camps, there opened 44 relief camps all over the district by The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). This situation is going to become worst and very serious by this natural disaster in this year. There is a total village of 176 in which around 106 villages are affected by huge flood in Imphal West. And approximately 12000 households left their houses because of this torrential rain and flood, he said.

0 quintals of dal and 259 liters of edible oil have been distributed in some of the of the affected area in the district such as Wangoi, Lamphel, Iroishemba, Lamsang, Patsoi, and Konthoujam, he further added that mosquito nets, candles, and potable drinking water would also be provided in the affected areas, for those efforts are going on to provide such important thing. According to the Authorities, the national highway which is connecting Manipur with southern Assam’s Barak Valley which got separated after mudslides.
According to the report, 5 people were dead and greater than 1.5 lakh affected in 350 villages of Biswanath and Karbi Anglong West and the districts of Karbi Anglong East, Golaghat, Karimganj, and Hailakandi. The swelling Difolu river has deluged National Highway-37 in Golaghat so that the traffic is highly disturbing.
With fresh showers in several parts of the state in the past 24 hours, a few more areas of Barak Valley were reported inundated. The situation in Karimganj especially remains grim.
