Former UFC Champion Conor McGregor Announces Retirement From Mixed Martial Arts

Former UFC Champion Conor McGregor has announced that he has retired from Mixed Martial Arts.

On March 26, 2019, Conor McGregor tweeted, “Hey guys quick announcement, I’ve decided to retire from the sport formally known as ‘Mixed Martial Art’ today. I wish all my old colleagues well going forward in competition.

He added, “I now join my former partners on this venture, already in retirement. Proper Pina Coladas on me fellas!”

Most fans were not convinced when the news broke out, many fans believe that Conor McGregor is pulling a Floyd Mayweather and will come out of retirement when the offers are really high.

This is not the first time that Conor has announced his retirement. In 2016, he tweeted, “I have decided to retire young. Thanks for the cheese. Catch ya’s later.”

In 2016, Conor faced Nate Diaz and Eddie Alvarez.

Many fans were also shocked after he tweeted his retirement as he was just talking about his potential fight that can happen this year.

As Conor and Jimmy Fallon had a talk, Conor said, “We’re in talks for July. There’s a lot of politics going on, it’s a mad game, the fight game. To my fans, I am in shape and I am ready.

“There are many opponents, in reality I can pick who I please. I don’t necessarily need to fight. I am set for life, my family is set for life.

“We are good, but I am eager to fight. We will see what happens, but I am just staying ready.”

McGregor is often called the biggest draw in MMA, Conor has headlined in 4 out of the 6 highest selling pay per view events of the UFC.

In 2015, Conor defeated José Aldo and claimed the Featherweight belt.
