Mahendra Singh Dhoni took fans down memory lane as he hit a six to take Chennai Super Kings (CSK) past Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) score of 205 on Wednesday. Mahi’s 34-ball 70 thrilled the crowd at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and took CSK to the top of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 points table. 

Keep calm and trust Dhoni! That is the mantra every cricket fan should follow when MS Dhoni is at the crease in a tense run chase because the man can turn around a match no matter how improbable the task at hand is. Even at 36 Dhoni has the ability to pull off run chases like the one he did on Wednesday against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Batting first, De Villiers smashed 68 off 30 balls, hitting eight sixes and two fours during his onslaught, while de Kock made 53 off 37 deliveries with the help of four sixes and a boundary. RCB’s was a strange innings as it saw two wicket-maiden overs and a triple-wicket final over, which also fetched the home team 14 runs.
Chasing 206 CSK did not start well as they lost Watson in the first over. Suresh Raina looked threating but was removed by Umesh Yadav. Both Billings and Jadeja came in and went back to the dugout leaving CSK in a spot of bother at 74 for 4.

That is when Dhoni joined Rayudu staged a fine recovery.

CSK needed 16 runs in the last over to win the match with Dwayne Bravo on strike against Corey Anderson. The West Indian started by hitting a boundary and a six in the first two deliveries before taking a single to put Dhoni on strike. Dhoni wasted no time and shuffled across the crease to smash Anderson for a huge six over long on to finish the match in his trademark style yet again.
