Google Photos Gets An Update For Android With Material Theme Design, New Improved Features
A new design has been set up by Google Photos which introduced Material Theme elements. The Google Photos of version 4.0 is being rolled out for all Android devices. The new version brings increased white space all over the interface which is in addition to revamped icons and Google Sans font that form the part of the latest Material Theme. There is also an option in the updated Google Photos which includes an option to display you the metadata of each of your photoshoots. The update comes along with many other updates to Google apps which include Android Messages and Chrome that has received updates very recently with Material Theme elements to match the experience of Android 9.0.
The change that the Google Photos gets your phone updated with it and the thing you will notice is the refreshed tab icons that are filled with white color. That indicates you shall now only see the outlines of Photos, Assistant, Albums and Sharing tabs available at the bottom of the Photos app. In a similar way, the search bar at the top now has got rounded corners. Once you tap the search bar to search for your old items, it will show results with a solid white background. The collection of your photos and videos in the Albums tab used to be previously displayed with sharp corner thumbnails and now it comes with rounded corners.
Notably, Google has not made any kind of change to the navigation drawer that allows access to the settings menu, bin and device folders. The icons, however, are filled with white color.
The updated Google Photos comes with some design changes that are not limited to the common places. You shall easily see rounded corners and Google Sans font while you use Google Lens as well. In a somewhat similar way, you can notice the style tab indicator while switching tools during the editing of images on Google Photos app.
The updated Google Photos app comes with an added option to view metadata of images in it. What all you need to do is just swipe up the photo while it is in the full-screen mode to enable seeing its metadata like date about when the photo was taken and the place of it along with its associated EXIF data. Apart from that, you can also access metadata by pressing the three-dot button from the top-right corner and then tapping the Info option. You are also allowed with a space to add a description to your existing images directly from the Info screen.
The updated Google Photos is available for download on your Android device from the Google Play store. Due to the reason that the app is being rolled out in phases, it may take considerable time to get updated for your handset.
