Head Constable Gets 3 Years In Prison For Taking Rs. 350 Bribe 14-Years-Ago in Kanyakumari
A Head Police Constable from the Thakkalai Police Station gets 3 years in prison for taking Rs. 350 rupees as a bribe 14-years-ago, he took the bribe from a person who was trying to get a clearance for his passport verification.
In 2005, Yasar applied for a passport as he wanted to work in a foreign country, he was asked to come to the Thakkalai Police Station for verification purposes.
But when Yasar went to the police station, Soosai Michael, a head police constable demanded Rs. 350 to make the verification process faster and smoother.
Yasar did not like what the constable did, so he decided to go to the anti-corruption department who helped him lay a trap.
Yasar then met the police constable after a couple of days, he then gave him currency notes that were chemically-laced.
A team from the DVAC caught the police constable and charged him with corruption.
And after 14-years of trial, V Pandia Raj, a Chief Judicial Magistrate found the accused policeman guilty of corruption and sentenced him to serve 3 years in prison, he was also asked to pay a fine of Rs. 10,000.
