I Eat Beef and Do Not Consider Cow as My Mother – Markandey Katju

Lynching incident of a Muslim in Dadri, Uttar Pradesh is drawing attention of people across the nation. Ex-Justice of Supreme Court Makes Controversial Remarks Over Dadri Incident

Justice Markandey Katju said, “I eat beef and do not considers cow as my mother as it is an animal like horse and dog” on Saturday following the political remarks over the Dadri lynching incident. Political leaders of many leaders have queued up to the killed Mohd Iqlakh’s family at his village near the national capital after it has turned out as one of news making incident.

Group  of students who were acknowledged with the comments of Justice Markandey Katju protested against him at the IIT-Banaras Hindu University after he landed at LBS International Airport in Varanasi on Saturday morning to attend a event at the university. An effigy of him was burnt of him by the students and slogans against him were raised.

In another statement, Justice Markandey Katju said, “The lynching incident should be condemned and all the accused persons involved in the crime should be given vigorous punishment. I eat beef and continue to do so. If you don’t have to eat I am not forcing you for it. The entire world, people in America, Europe, Africa, Arab, China and Australia eat beef, then are they all bad people. People in Nagaland and Mizoram consume beef, how can you force them not to eat. The cow is an animal and I don’t consider it as the mother.”

Apart from Justice Markandey Katju many prominent personalities across the globe have condemned the lynching of a Muslim and brutal attack over his family. Infamous for her controversial, renowned writer, Shobha De  said, “I  eat beef too and challenge the goons to kill me” reacting to the recent incident of Dadri on Friday. Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered special probe into the incident and Rs 20 lakh ex-gratia has been ordered by the state government to the family.

Some of the renowned political leaders visiting victims’ family were Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and many other local leaders. However, an appeal of Iqlakh’s son Sartaj has been sent to state government that they don’t want to meet any of the political visits. So far cops have arrested 10 people who were reported to be involved in this case.
