India To Add 12 New Nuclear Power Plants To Provide Clean And Pollution-Free Energy For Citizens And Companies

India is set to add 12 new nuclear power plants to make sure that there is clean and uninterrupted power supply for its citizens and companies.

As of now, 9 nuclear power reactors are going to be ready by 2024 and 2025.

Here are the number and locations of the 12 nuclear power plants to be added:

  • 2 nuclear reactors are going to be made in Kakrapar, Gujarat with having 700MW capacity each
  • 2 nuclear reactors are going to be made in Rawatbhata, Rajasthan with having 700MW capacity each
  • 2 nuclear reactors are going to be made in Kudankulam, Tamil Nadu with having 1000MW capacity each
  • 2 nuclear reactors are going to be made in Gorakhpur, Haryana with having 700MW each
  • 1 nuclear reactor is going to be made in Kalpakkam with having 500MW capacity

The Chairman of the Atomic Commission Of India said, “Nuclear technology helps in the betterment of lives through varied usages and is an irreplaceable source of clean, pollution-free energy.”

Kamlesh Nilkanth Vyas the Chairman of the Atomic Commission said it during the 11th International Atom Expo 2019.

Vyas said that Homi J. Bhabha, the founder of the Indian Nuclear Program envisaged that Nuclear Technology is “very essential” to provide betterment of life and is not only useful in the power sector.

He said, “We believe that when it comes to clean energy, there is no substitute for nuclear energy as it is sustainable and without interruption, one can have clean energy.”

While citing a record that runs off the Kaiga Nuclear Power Station, Vyas said that a small unit of indigenously-developed 220-250MW reaction completed 962 days of uninterrupted run at 99.3 percent capacity.

Mr. Vyas said that the 1st stage of India’s Indigenous nuclear power program has attained maturity even while it is operating on PHWRs (Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors).

The 11th International Atom Expo 2019 was held in Sochi, with having the motto of ‘Nuclear for a better life’. There were more than 3500 participants from 74 different countries, which includes Nicaragua, Qatar, and Bahrain.
Alexey Likhachev, the Director General of the Rosatom State Corporation said, “Peaceful atom is associated with all aims and goals for the UN Sustainable Development Program. The Forum became a space for discussing the latest technologies thus ensuring a base for the future of the planet.”

Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia said that advancing the stature of Russia us important, especially in the field of their nuclear technology.

Kamlesh Nilkanth Vyas added that PM Modi has sanctioned 10 PHWRs in fleet mode and are planning to construct 2 more light water reactors.

Kamlesh Nilkanth Vyas added that India has gained a lot of fame throughout the process of manufacturing nuclear energy.

Nuclear Technology is not only used for creating clean and sustainable power, but it is also used by scientists and doctors to improve the technology.

Doctors use Radiotherapy for cancer patients, and the numbers are really good too, doctors say that patients who undergo Radiotherapy feel better by up to 60 percent.
