India Will Turn Into Syria If Ram Mandir Issue Is Not Resolved: Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
Founder of Art of Living Sri Sri Ravi Shankar renewed his appeal to the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) to consider an out-of-court settlement to the Ram Janmabhoomi controversy. He said he feared a “large-scale” communal flare up if the court settles the case via legislation.
He wrote an open letter to the members of AIMPLB in which he mentioned that opting for the court was a loss for both the Hindus and Muslims and the better option would be an out-of-court settlement would do fine for both the communities.
“I urge the leaders of both the faiths to take this action seriously. Otherwise, we are pushing our country to the brink of a civil war,” said Ravi Shankar. He has been making efforts of mediation by meeting Muslim and Hindu leaders to find a solution to the dispute.
However, Ravi Shankar gave a few possible situations – the court giving the controversial land to the Muslims, awarding the land to the Hindus, upholding the Allahabad High Court order that says there should be a mosque built on one acre whilst the remaining 60 acres be utilized to build the Temple and Parliament passing the legislation.
According to Ravi Shankar, the best solution would be an out-of-court settlement, in which the Muslim bodies have to come forward gifting one acre of land to the Hindus, who, in turn, would gift five acres of land to the Muslims which will be helpful in building a bigger Mosque.
Ravi Shankar reminded the AIMPLB leaders that the Islam has permitted the shifting of the Mosque to another place and that the cleric Maulana Salman Nadvi and several other Muslim scholars had endorsed in the past. However, Ravi Shankar added that Muslims are not going to surrender the land to the people who demolished the Babri Masjid or to a particular organization.
“On the contrary, they are gifting it to the people of India. They must keep this in their minds and spirit. It is only reconciliation and an expression of their broad- mindedness, benevolence, magnanimity and goodwill.”
