Congress Party Vice-President Rahul Gandhi (47) is known as one of the famous bachelors in the country. He keeps encountering questions regarding his wedding plans and recently, he was again in focus due to the same question on Thursday. Earlier, it was media reporters who ask the question but this time, it is Indian boxer, Vijender Singh.
This is not the first time, Rahul Gandhi was asked this question. At the 112th Annual session and PHD Annual Awards for Excellence 2017, Vijender spoke about sports development in India before Rahul took the center stage.
However, the Indian boxer heralds two tricky question towards Rahul. Vijender spoke about how he has never seen an MP, MLA or politician play sports for real and was wondering what would be Rahul Gandhi’s plans for sports development in India if he was to become the Prime Minister in future. He then asked his second question, “when will Rahul bhaiya get married?”
Without any hesitation, Rahul directly answered the second question first. He said, “It’s a very old question.” The boxer then pressed, “everybody is waiting for it. It will be quite something if you become Prime Minister and then marry.” “Jab hogi, hogi (It will happen when it happens). I believe in destiny,” Mr. Gandhi then said, in reply to the Olympics medalist’s question.
Vijender’s main question was what Mr. Rahul Gandhi would do for sports if he became Prime Minister. Coming to the first question, “I have rarely seen a lawmaker doing any sports,” he said. To which, Mr. Rahul Gandhi shot back: “I do exercise, swimming, am a black belt in aikido. But I don’t talk about it publicly. I do sports one hour every day. Though I admit I haven’t done so in the past three-four months.”
Why not put up a video, it will inspire people, bantered Vijender. Mr. Rahul Gandhi chuckled, “Fine…I will…”

Rahul Gandhi was responding to a Q and A after making a strong pitch for his party’s comeback and delivering stinging missiles at the ruling BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Admitting that the previous government at the Centre led by his party had shortcomings “towards its closing day,” Rahul Gandhi said a new Congress government “would be a much more decentralized government.
He also tore into the government over the state of the economy, describing the notes ban and the new national tax GST as “two quick shots to the chest.”
