[Watch Video]: “Jump Outside, Bag later” Emirates Crew Shouted During Evacuation
Emirates flight EK251 arriving from Trivandrum (India) crash-lands in Dubai. Around 300 people including passengers and crew walked away from this flight before the flight burst into flames due to crash-landing on the runway of Dubai’s airport on Wednesday( August 3, 2016). There were about 24 Britons in the passengers.
Passengers were given no warning about the hard landing and they were forced to run during the emergency from the burning aircraft. Shahron Maryam Sharji, one of the passengers says,
“It was actually really terrifying. As we were landing there was smoke coming out in the cabin. People were screaming and we had a very hard landing. We left by going down the emergency slides and as we were leaving on the runway we could see the whole plane catch fire; it was horrifying.”
According to the pilot, this incident occurred due to the breakage of the right engine and as a resulting flight crashed instead of climbing.A fireball from the jet fuel burst to catch the total fire. From the 300people, 226 were Indians, 24 Britons and rest from UAE. All the passengers and crew were safely evacuated. There was no sign of injuries. But unfortunately, a firefighter lost his life in this incident.
Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority says,
“I salute his ultimate sacrifice that kept many from harm’s way. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
A video was recorded by a passenger on the flight. The critical moments of evacuation have been captured in the video. One of the passengers shouted “my laptop” and some crew members shouted at the passengers “leave the bag, jump outside”, “bag later”. And also it can be heard that a female crew member urges the passengers saying “leave bags and jump outside”
At the end, you can see clearly the engine which was on fire.
