Chinese Smartphone manufacturer OnePlus has launched its new Smartphone OnePlus 5 in June 2017. Soon, the manufacturing company was caught that did mistake in its Maps App. The OnePlus company made a big goof up showing a distorted map of India.

During the global launch of its flagship OnePlus 5 event, OnePlus had shown a map of India with POK and Aksai Chin missing. The blunder was caught on camera during a video presentation in which OnePlus listed the cities where it’s holding pop-up events across the world to promote OnePlus 5.

The cities that will host the pop-up events include New Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai. The wrong India map appears in the video below towards the end (at 1:05:07 to be precise).

Thus, it easily grabbed media attention. OnePlus might argue this “wrong depiction” because both the regions fall under the disputed category. The Indian border is usually depicted with dotted lines by international companies.

For example, while Google India includes both POK and Aksai Chin as a part of India (solid-line border), the UK version of Google Maps marks the region with dotted lines. The wrong map of India is not only the blunder that OnePlus committed, it also misspelled the capital of India, Delhi, in a slide during the global presentation.

To take it further, the company also seems to be unaware of the fact that Bangalore was officially renamed as Bengaluru long time back. Earlier, we had seen few incidents where the Indian map was depicted wrong.

Last year, Twitter had shown the geographical location of Kashmir in China and Jammu in Pakistan triggering protests from the Indian government after which it was corrected. The government had proposed a law in which the wrong depiction of the map of India could land the violators in jail with a maximum term of seven years and a fine of up to Rs 100 crore.
